Ashley Wren Collins Directing & Choreography

Since 2010, Ashley has directed the emerging works of BFA and MFA in Dramatic Writing candidates at New York University in classes led by playwrights Eduardo Machado, Daniel Goldfarb and Rinne Groff.

Among Ashley’s recent projects, she directed and choreographed La Muse Venale’s world premiere of the off-Broadway musical Flak House as well as Medicine Show Theatre’s production of Vladimir Mayakovsky’s The Bedbug, to rave reviews. She is currently in post-production on The Aftertaste, the short film she directed and co-produced, starring country singer/songwriter Phil Vassar.

Ashley was a participant in the 2015 Directors Lab at Lincoln Center Theater and the recipient of an Alumni Lab Grant from the American Repertory Theater to further develop The Displaced (now titled Land Grab), a new play written by Lori Fischer. She directed an excerpt of Land Grab as part of Women Center Stage with the Culture Project. Ashley also directed JD Stewart’s one-man show, Gay Boy, for the Dream Up Festival and Queerly Festival in NYC, and Elizabeth Wine’s one-woman show, I’m Mindful…of My Anxiety.
